THE AGAPE HOUSE MISSION

Agape House’s (AH) mission provides a bridge of empowerment, leading to successful independent living for Black, Brown and indigenous young women between the ages of 171/2 to 27years of age. AH is a Black-led agency employing aggressive advocacy preventative program model. Prevention stops someone from experiencing hardship before issues occur, which is good return on investment.
AH provides King and Pierce County with safety nets for the homeless that are value driven, racially and culturally competent through Semi-Permanent, Non-Time Limited Housing, Employment and Educational Opportunities, as well as Community Based Mentorship Programs to female youth who have aged-out of foster care or who are homeless. We offer a transformative program that addresses systemic racism, criminalization and sexuaiization.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation notes that the Foster Care System is a “pipeline to sexual trafficking “. Also, Black and Brown youth are approximately less than 4% of King County and 6% of Pierce County, yet comprise over 40% of those in Juvenile Detention, Jail or Prison.
